WHY: Pat Launer, a renowned San Diego theater critic and creator/host of the Patté Awards, is a lifelong supporter of young talent, committed to developing the theatermakers and theatergoers of the future. Dr. Floyd Gaffney, who passed away in July 2007, was a beloved theater director and UCSD Professor Emeritus who was the father of African-American theater in San Diego. As a teacher and mentor, he was an inspiration to many young theatermakers. This award is a fitting tribute to his memory and his commitment to young people.
HOW: Fill out the attached Coversheet and return together with a Photo/Headshot and your responses (no more than 100 words each). Keep the original for your own records. Application responses will not be returned.
PLEASE: Be mindful of the deadline! In theater, if the curtain goes up at
8:00pm on a Saturday, you can’t show up on Sunday morning. So, Plan Ahead!
Stick to the deadline – and the word count.
Have fun. Be Dramatic... and Break a Leg!
